About CSPO
Cambodia has one of the largest disabled populations in the world. An estimated 40,000 landmine survivors and 50,000 people affected by polio contribute to a significant demand for rehabilitation services.
The Cambodian School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (CSPO) was established by The Cambodia Trust (now Exceed Worldwide), in 1994. The school’s initial aim was to train Cambodian Prothetist Orthotists to meet the need for quality rehabilitation services and to ensure the sustainability of these services. To date CSPO has trained over 70 Cambodians and has become a regional education hub, training students from 21 nations.
In 1999 the school was accredited by the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) for its Category II P&O education. In the same year, CSPO began accepting students from other countries in the region with the wish to help other developing nations with a demand for qualified professionals. CSPO also became the first Prosthetics and Orthotics school in the world to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification.
The success of CSPO has created the model required to establish four other schools across Southeast Asia including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines and Myanmar. Building on these strong foundations, Exceed has become the biggest provider of prosthetic and orthotic education in the world.
